It is okay to not be okay. It is okay to hurt. Accept that this experience is teaching you something. Accept that this transition in your family’s life will lead to a joyful life. Yes, it will take some time to get this extreme weight off your chest. Understand that someday the pain now will make you a stronger person and parent. This is a process and most importantly know you are NOT alone.
Family Matters has helped many families adjust through family transitions with patience, guidance, support, and the time to allow you to get through this stage to move on to the next chapter. We will guide and support you to develop a positive attitude to accept that change is an imminent part of healing. We will help you focus on the present, getting from where you are today to where you want to be in the future. Creating a plan and mapping out life’s goals is imperative to a successful outcome.
We are a in-house hands-on team that comes to you. We will be your Family Facilitator to help you and your loved ones focus on your future. Our job is to provide the emotional support and motivation through this transition and healing process.
Having a partner walk out or being the bearer of divorce news is traumatic. You do not need to go through divorce alone. Some people withdraw from their friends and family after divorce and that leaves them with feelings of bitterness and anger. They build walls around themselves, too high for anyone to climb, which can become permanent.
Although divorce puts a child through a confusing and emotional transition, don’t forget to be involved in their lives. Communicate to your kid’s teachers and volunteer with their classes. Offer to tutor or chaperone field trips. Having an open conversation and just you being there for them is the best thing.
Keeping anger and anxiety bottled up inside can lead to cardiovascular problems and a good laugh can release them. Take a break from all of our smart phone and devices—enjoy the outdoors! Take your kids on an adventure–hiking, biking along the coast! Taking them somewhere new: a sporting event, a concert, a tour of a local tourist attraction…Having a blast with your kids is the best medicine. Enjoying an outing is healthy. It’s all about balance.
We hope you are encouraged to ask for help. You may feel stuck and don’t know where to go from here. You are capable, brave and significant. Even when you feel like the world is against you and you want to shut the world out and just be left alone, don’t run out on your faith. There is light at the end of this tunnel. Just when you think your life is falling apart, it just might be falling together. Instead of thinking why everything is going wrong…change your perspective. Think about what can go right. Open up your mind and your heart. Fall in love with your future because it’s yours to create.
